You’ll want to either immediately take your kids to the new Rocket Fizz Soda Pop & Candy Shop – which recently opened near 21st and Greenwich – or never, ever let them find out it exists.
Pam and Randy Isaacson opened their franchise of the candy shop, a California-based company with locations all over the country, at the Village at Greenwich development, also home to several new restaurants like Oak & Pie and Meddy’s.
The colorful store is stuffed with nearly every candy you can think of, past and present, plus dozens and dozens of sodas in all flavors, including weird ones like buffalo wing, Ranch dressing, and bacon.
It also carries gag gifts, novelty items like full-head unicorn masks, and lots of tin signs that are printed with vintage concert posters.
I stopped in yesterday and was so overwhelmed by all the items, it made my eyes hurt in a good way. After perusing an entire wall filled with every flavor of salt water taffy known to man, I bought my daughters some giant Smarties, some Razzles (first it’s a candy, then it’s a gum) and two boxes of candy advertised to channel unmentionable bodily functions. (Why not?) I was also tempted to buy a vintage Ozzy Osbourne concert poster as a gift and may yet return.
The store’s address is 2350 N. Greenwich. It’s open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sundays.
