May is here and at Rocket Fizz Salt Lake City we wanted to be a part of celebrating Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month by highlighting some of our products but first a little bit of insight on why we celebrate this during the month of May.
May is designated as the month for Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage for two historical milestones, the arrival of the first Japanese immigrants to the U.S on May 7th, 1843, and the completion of the transcontinental railroad on May 10th, 1869, which was mostly built by Chinese immigrants!
Jeanie Jew a fourth-generation Chinese American advocate played a vey important role in the creation of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, the month was originally a week. May 4th, 1979, was the first established week until it was later changed into the known month in 1990! The AAPI umbrella encompasses over 50 ethnic groups with distinct traditions, cultures and languages! All of which we here at Rocket Fizz Salt Lake City love to celebrate!
A-Sha is a brand originating in Tainan, Taiwan, we carry a variety of Boba Milk Teas from them ranging from Brown Sugar, Matcha and Taro! A-Sha continues to grow every year but still has roots to their home of Tainan, Taiwan. With three distinct flavors it’s sure to satisfy any sweet craving you might have! A personal favorite among our staff is the brown sugar!
Kasugai primarily their frutia brand is a product of Japan known for its soft gummy texture, it is made with real fruit juice and for my gluten intolerant friends they are all gluten-free! Another amazing product that we carry the Kiwi and Watermelon versions of Kasugai’s philosophy is delicious and high-quality confectionary that is loved by everyone!
We also carry Li Hing Mui gummies, a popular treat to Hawai’i, made from salted dried plums. It has a unique blend of sweet, sour, and salty flavor! Truly one of a kind, we carry various products and even have a whole Oceania section for them and multiple other products, I personally would recommend the lychee sour belts for a truly unique taste!
Lotte was founded in 1948 by Korean businessman Shin Kyuk-ho initially selling chewing gum to children, in 1967 Lotte expanded to South Korea where they established Lotte Confectionary making its official entry into the food industry. We carry their Choco Pie’s in green tea and their original chocolate flavor!
I could talk forever about the products we have here in Salt Lake City, but you should come by and have a look for yourselves!
