Rocket Fizz, a fast growing soda and candy retailer, will become neighbors with Office Depot and T.J. Maxx when it opens a downtown Portland store in mid May.
With Rocket Fizz on board, The Schlesinger Cos. has completely filled the complex it dubbed Sixth Avenue Center a few years ago as it worked to rebrand the garage-retail-office complex. The company faced major vacancies when Kitchen Kaboodle moved out and, later, when Office Depot pared back its footprint.
Rocket Fizz will open by May 15 in the corner spot at Southwest Sixth and Alder Streets fronting the Portland transit mall.
The chain of franchise-operated stores sells a wide variety of bottled soda and vintage candy along with gifts, posters and retro gear.
The Schlesingers rebranded the building after several major tenant changes.
Kitchen Kaboodle vacated its two-story, 16,000-square-foot space in 2008 and later, Office Depot reduced its two-story, 30,000 square foot store to 7,500 square feet on a single floor.
Apparel retailer T.J. Maxx leased the 23,000-square-foot basement portion of Office Depot.
Dan Bozich and Kia Hartley of Urban Works Real Estate represented Schlesinger Cos. Josh Schlesinger represented the property.
